Blessing in disguise?

I'm so thankful that I married a man who likes to work. He has big plans for things.. like our house, for example. We've made several changes and updates to our house since we moved in a year ago.

*3 rooms have been painted
*new roof was installed
*deck has been stained
*carpet was torn up and new floor was put down in 2 rooms
*sidewalk was repaved and a 10' x 20' side parking area was added to our driveway (Justin added the dimensions... whatever...)
*front landscaping has been entirely re-done (Thanks, Dad!)
*bricks and weird plants surrounding our tree were removed and replaced with new grass
*master bedroom closet re-done - part of the wall was torn down to make a larger opening for the door and also a new organizational system was installed (Thanks, Carl!)
*custom shelves have been built in the basement for our entertainment center (not finished yet.. still in the works)
*hall closet was fixed up -- added some shelves inside the closet
*new garbage disposal has been installed

Justin has done all of these things himself (some with the help of our dads) except the roof and driveway. I'm pretty impressed with all that he has done. With all that work, you can imagine that most of our Saturdays are spent working - usually Justin does most of the work while I take care of Claire and help with what I can during her naps. Since Justin has broken his arm, though, he simply can't work. Well.... he can do some things like mow the lawn, pull weeds, and some other things, but he can't do most of the things he wants to do. Although this frustrates him and I feel badly about that, I have enjoyed spending our Saturdays just having fun!

Take today, for example... we got up and headed to some garage sales, where we scored a few new toys for Claire. Then we headed to the farmer's market and picked up some fresh veggies and meat for tonight's dinner. (I also got the most delicious chocolate mint cupcake... YUM!) We came home for Claire's morning nap and did a few things around here. After Claire woke up, we headed out to run some errands but couldn't resist stopping at the Vine for a yummy lunch outside on the patio. After Claire's afternoon nap, we went downtown and I got my haircut while Justin and Claire strolled around downtown.

Now Claire is in bed and we're about to make dinner... I love today!! Although I wouldn't call Justin's broken wrist a blessing, I do think it has allowed us to have some fun family time together and take a break from all the work!
