On Tuesday night we watched fireworks from our car. The girls thought that was super fun! We actually put them to bed at their normal bedtime and then woke them up at 9:30 for the fireworks. They thought that was super exciting. Haha! Since they had never seen them before and both HATE loud noises, watching from the car was perfect. They got to see them but they weren't quite as loud.
Wednesday morning, after blueberry and strawberry topped pancakes, we went to the parade. It was interesting because it was a steam engine parade.. no floats, marching bands, etc... just a lot of loud steam engines with people throwing candy.
After the parade, some new friends from our neighborhood came over and we grilled while the kiddos played and swam in the little backyard pool. That was a lot of fun! Our kids play so nicely together which always makes it a little more fun for the parents. ;)
Justin won Braves tickets again... but this time they were playing the Cubs... SCORE!!! I mean, seriously... FRONT row, valet parking, free food, free drinks, our hometown team... it was SO much fun! My parents were watching the game on WGN and saw us! The players were so incredibly close to us.. it was so cool.
Because it was the 4th, they did some extra festive things before the game started, including having the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corp perform. They are the official escort to the president! It was really cool.
The players were this close when they were warming up to go up to bat.
and this close when they were batting!
Justin asked Soriano for a smile.. and he complied!!!!
It was a fun day! Thankful for the freedom we have as Americans and for those who have fought for it. Even more thankful for my freedom in Christ because of his unmatchable sacrifice!
