So we are knee-deep in the middle of Claire's first official sickness. It started on Easter Sunday. She wasn't really acting like her normal smiley self, so I took her temp and found that she had a low grade fever. I gave her some Tylenol and she seemed fine the rest of the afternoon. She was kinda fussy on and off Monday and Tuesday and then on Wednesday I noticed she had a stuffy nose (the same day Justin started feeling sick). I had to use that lovely bulb syringe to suction her out several times... an activity Claire despises! It was so hard to do because she knew it was coming and would start to squirm and do everything in her power to escape the suction. On Thursday the fever came back and I started to notice her eyes were real watery so I called the doctor. They just said to keep giving her the Tylenol and call back if she got worse. Well, worse is exactly what she got! When she woke up on Friday morning, her eyes were crusted shut!!! Saddest thing ever! She couldn't open her eyes and then began to SCREAM because I'm sure it scared her. It took several wipes with a warm washcloth before she was able to open them. Poor girl. :( I took her in the doctor, afraid she was getting some type of pink eye. The doctor said it's just a nasty viral infection, so there's nothing we can do but wait it out. For the last three days, every time Claire wakes up from a nap or in the morning, we have to do the same warm washcloth routine, since her eyes are crusted shut. It's so incredibly sad... I hate it!! She also has been waking up several times each night from all the coughing and stuffy-ness.
In the meantime, Justin had come down with the same cold (minus the runny, crusty eyes). I knew he was feeling really bad because he's not usually one to take medicine (weird, considering he sells drugs for a living) but actually stopped to pick up some after work the other day, without my prompting. I was just sick with a cold 2 weeks ago, so I figured I'd escape this one. Well... no such luck! I woke up Saturday morning feeling awful, too.
Justin and I are starting to feel better and hopefully Claire will show signs of improving soon, too. This sick family is ready to be healthy!!

Oh, I hope you feel better soon at your house!! I know the feeling of being housebound-I am stuck with a sinus infeciton and Aiden has a case of stomach flu too:) We have spent the last week trying to get better-no fun!! Also, I love the pictures of Claire at Easter-she is getting cuter by the day! Isn't the year flying by so far?
Oh, so sad! I know all about the crusty eyes, it is so sad to see them like that.
I'm sorry you are sicky!! Dex has had a blocked tear duct since he was born, so 90% of mornings he wakes up with one eye crusted completely shut. He doesn't seem to mind anymore- we call it his "morning wink" and to the same thing with a warm towel.
The new pics of Claire are ADORABLE!!! We head back to Vegas tonight, it's been a great trip but I'm ready to get back into our own space and routine.
So sorry we couldn't arrange a visit, but it sounds like you guys weren't really up for visitors anyway. Miss you lots!!!
