Annie and I just laugh when we think back to our days of "planning" our future. We hear people talk about "married by this date, kids by that date..." I guess it comes from our years of God overriding our time table. Well, tack one more into that column.
I know yesterday's post states 35 more days. Scratch that and change it to tomorrow. This morning Annie woke me up at 4:30 am stating she thinks that her water had broken. Having previous expectations of this incident being something more like the video clips you see of the tsunami hitting the coast of Indonesia, the fact that she was up and walking around was a little contradictory. Besides, we have 35 days left, right? Plenty of time to pack a bag for the hospital, install a car seat, etc...
We called the hospital and they wanted us to come in. Annie quickly read the list of what to bring to the hospital from the almost sacred book of "The Girlfriend's Guide To Pregnancy". I ran around and grabbed the items as she called them out. The scene may have been something similar to a classic episode of "Supermarket Sweep". Anyone with me on that one?
We got to the hospital around 5:20 and they placed us in a triage room. They checked and confirmed that her bag of waters had ruptured and walked us to our delivery room to settle in. From there it was IVs and penicillin, continual blood pressure checks, and a lot of unhooking everything to go to the bathroom (she'll love that I'm telling this).
Baby's heart rate looks good, and her measurements were good (I won't get specific...sorry to all the girls who like to know these things). However, she hadn't been having much in terms of contractions. They just hooked her up to pitocin to get things moving. I can see on the monitor that her contractions are getting more frequent and from the sounds of things, a little stronger.
I'll update more soon, but I don't think its safe for me to continue writing while the contractions are kicking in... you know what I mean.
