So, this afternoon we were supposed to be going out of town to attend my grandfather's memorial service but instead, Claire is having surgery for ear tubes! After taking her in on Tuesday and realizing she had yet another ear infection (in her left ear... her right ear looked fine), her pediatrician scheduled a consult appointment with an ENT to discuss getting tubes. That appointment was this morning. We found out that since Tuesday, her right ear is now infected and even after three days on a pretty strong antibiotic, her left ear has not improved at all. He said she definitely needs tubes... and ASAP!! We told him that we're supposed to be going out of town today and asked if there was anything we could do to relieve her pain until she was able to get surgery. He said that at this point antibiotics won't do much and the only way to really help her would be to get the surgery. We decided to just do it today in hopes that she'll soon be out of pain... poor, poor girl!!
In addition, while we were there, he heard both girls coughing (it has been NON-stop) and said it sounds like they both have RSV. It's a virus so there's not much we can do about that.
Would you pray for sweet Claire bear, as she has her surgery at 3:00 this afternoon?

I'll be praying for her. Olivia's ear tube surgery went so quick, I couldn't believe it. Hope all goes well for hers - they make such a huge difference. Olivia didn't respond to ANY of the oral antibiotics either and between last February and last June (when she got the tubes) her left ear never got better during that entire 4 month period. We know your frustration. Her tubes are definitely working because every time she gets a cold or is cutting teeth her ears start draining and I am thankufl that the tubes are doing their job...although gross, it is still better than a painful ear infection. Hang in there!
How did it all go Annie? I've been thinking and praying for her! I hope you were still able to go to the funeral.
